Airplane Toys? Anyone?

Sooooo...we'll be travelling soon with our one year old. On a plane. The thought makes me shudder. Anyway, I'm trying to come up with some new (yet quiet) toys to wow him with on the plane. Have you ever tried to come up with quiet toys for a one year old? It's a daunting task! If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I will be forever grateful. Please, oh, please comment or e-mail me. :) Thanks!

We have done well with lots of books, toys that don't make noise, and our portable DVD player. My kids at that age liked some cars and were even kept entertained by the snack pack that we got on the plane. Bring food and drinks, too!

Junk mail to open, small wrapped toys and allowing them to rip up the in-flight magazine. A little bit of a mess but hours of entertainment. The crew won't be upset about the mess if you pick it up. We traveled across country twice when our little one was one and these were better than any toys we had.

You can bring Colorforms to stick on the windows. They pack up flat, are quiet and won't leave a mess behind, like stickers would!
